Handgun Instructor Tune-Up
Course Description
This Instructor Development course is designed to provide instructors an opportunity to maintain their skills and obtain exposure to variations for teaching fundamentals of marksmanship and vocational firearm use to professional students.
The course is offered several times per year with each course focusing on a different training theme.
Past course topics have included:
- Fundamentals and review of NRA Law Enforcement Handgun Skill Sheet
- One hand and off-hand shooting positions
- Single hand and offhand firearm manipulations
- Movement
- Officer training issues
- Legislative and case law updates and discussion
- Use-of-Force and Self Defense
- Movement
- Low Light
- Team Tactics
Student Training Requirements Basic Course
Each student will design and direct one exercise during the course.
Students successfully completing the course receive a certificate of completion.
Course Requirements
Students must possess a valid Law Enforcement or Security Instructor rating at the time of the course.
CCW Instructors may be admitted based on approval.
Students are required to bring their duty gear with a standard duty belt, retention holster (level 2 or higher), magazine pouches as well as concealment holster and accessories.
This course will provide 8 hours of instructor level training for application to re-certification hours by the Nevada Private Investigators Licensing Board (PILB) and the National Rifle Association Law Enforcement Activities Division (LEAD).
